The 2024 Skin Cancer & Sunlight Awareness Program
Did you know that public understanding of UV radiation, skin cancer, and sunscreen use is still alarmingly low? At the same time, students’ interest in science is on the decline. That’s why the 2024 Skin Cancer & Sunlight Awareness Program was launched—to boost awareness and spark curiosity about science through interactive, skin cancer-themed activities!
In collaboration with SMK Damai Jaya, PKDJB, JPNJ, and Skinlab Sdn Bhd, this initiative targeted students from SMK Damai Jaya with a range of exciting activities, including awareness briefings, a creative video competition, expert talks, and hands-on STEM experiments. What made it even more special? SMK Damai Jaya students stepped up as facilitators, guiding participants from SMK Mutiara Rini and SMK Sultan Ismail, making it a truly student-driven effort!
The success of the program was measured through post-assessment score improvements and overwhelmingly positive feedback—proving its impact as a sustainable awareness model. By December 2024, it had earned a prestigious five-star rating, received media coverage, and even secured copyright for the official Skin Cancer & Sunlight Awareness Toolkit, ensuring its legacy continues to benefit communities in the future. This isn’t just another school program—it’s a movement towards a healthier, more informed generation!
