The objective of our group’s research is to understand past rainfall and streamflow patterns and behaviours in relation to future climate change. Our focus is largely on the statistical modelling of climate system. The main thrust of the group’s activities focuses on climate data analysis and on regional climate modeling with a particular emphasis on extreme events and their future evolution, and interdisciplinary climate impacts research that links the physical, biological, economic and social sciences. Observations and theoretical models are used to understand past and future climate. Uncertainties in climate modeling will be part of the research interest. Topics to be discussed include: model parameterizations/structure, uncertainty in extreme events, process representation and model assessment against observations.
