The STEM Program titled “Microalgae: Sustainability of Future” was successfully organized at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Pulai Perdana under the Knowledge Transfer Program Fund, Community & Industry Network Center (CCIN) with the industry collaboration of Agri Season Sdn Bhd. The program was led by Assc. Prof. Dr Nor Azimah Mohd Zain and supported by the lecturers, assistants science officer and PhD students from the Department of Biosciences of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
Students are taken on a journey to the World of Microalgae, starting with a talk about Microalgae, its applications, benefits and role in reducing global warming. Then, followed by hands-on activities such as: see & identify algae species using phone applications & microscopes, live algae in a petri dish, build a light bioreactor lastly students are required to grow algae and make growth observations within 2 weeks.
