JOHOR BAHRU – The Department of Biosciences, Faculty Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is celebrating a significant milestone in social responsibility, as several of its leading researchers were recently honored at the 2025 Community Engagement Project Star Rating Awards (Penarafan Bintang Projek Libat Sama Komuniti 2025).
The awards recognize research projects that successfully bridge the gap between academic innovation and practical community benefit. This year, nine prominent projects from the department achieved the prestigious star rating, demonstrating exceptional impact in areas ranging from environmental sustainability to agriculture.
The management and staff of the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science extended their heartiest congratulations to the project leaders and their teams for their dedication to the “University Community Engagement Project”.
The 5-star recipients for 2025 are:
- Dr. Azman Abd Samad with the project titled “Kepelbagaian Tanaman Dan Kawalan Dalam Pertanian Organik Bersama Iskandar Puteri Agriculturalist Community (lpac)”
- Dr. Huszalina Hussin with the project titled “Program Pemeliharaan Dan Pemuliharaan Biodiversiti Sungai Di Pasir Gudang: Pembangunan Pelan Induk Eko-Pelancongan Berasaskan Produk Dan Aktiviti Setempat Di Komuniti Flat MMHE Pasir Gudang”
- Dr. Raihana Ridzuan with the project titled “Program Hidroponik Secara Organik Menggunakan Solar @ Sireh Park”
The 4-star recipients for 2025 are:
- Prof. Madya Dr. Nor Azimah Mohd Zain with the project titled “Kitar Semula Fabrik: Pengkomposan Fabrik”
- Dr. Raihana Ridzuan with the project titled “Kebun Hidroponik Berkuasa Solar di SK Tg Kupang”
- Dr. Raihana Ridzuan with the project titled “Program Kebun Tanaman Campuran di Kampung Sagil 2”
The 3-star recipients for 2025 are:
- Dr. Raihana Ridzuan with the project titled “Program Kebun Komuniti Akuaponik Taman Harmoni Vista”
- Dr. Azman Abd Samad with the project titled “Permindahan Ilmu Kepelbagaian Spesies Tumbuhan Berpotensi & Peranannya Kepada Keseimbangan Alam Sekitar Di Emerald Park, Iskandar Puteri”
- Dr. Mira Panadi with the project titled “Bengkel Inovasi Sumber Bahan Tempatan Untuk Pemakanan Ternakan”
