The Faculty of Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) congratulates Woo Jie Heng and Teo Sheng Li, two outstanding students from the Department of Biosciences, for successfully completing their international internships as part of the International Internship 2024 program.
Woo Jie Heng, a third-year BSc. (Biology) student with Honours, interned at the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Under the mentorship of Dr. Hii Yiik Siang and guided by Faculty PIC Dr. Mohd Firdaus Abd. Wahab, Woo Jie Heng gained valuable insights into environmental life sciences, enhancing his practical knowledge and research skills.
Teo Sheng Li, also in his third year and pursuing a BSc. (Industrial Biology) with Honours, completed his internship in the Molecular of Tropical Medicine and Genetics Department at the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand. Mentored by Assoc. Prof. Usa Boonyuen and supported by Faculty PICs Ts. Dr. Syazwani Itri Amran and Dr. Nurriza Ab. Latif, Teo Sheng Li deepened his understanding of tropical medicine and genetics, further equipping him for a career in industrial biology.
Both students demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment, reflecting UTM’s mission of “Innovating Solutions” and the Faculty of Science’s ethos of “Where Great Minds are Nurtured.” The Faculty of Science congratulates Woo Jie Heng and Teo Sheng Li for their achievements and looks forward to seeing their future contributions to the scientific community.
