Johor Bahru, 5 December 2025 — The Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully hosted the 2025 edition of the Program Showcase Industri & Inovasi Fakulti Sains (SIIFS) at the departmental level on 4–5 December. Held at the Al-Razi Auditorium and lobby of Building T02, the event drew 267 participants, including administrators, academic and support staff, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The showcase was opened by Associate Professor Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek, Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation & Development, Faculty of Science. The program was officiated by Prof. Madya Dr. Sabrinah Adam, Deputy Director (Industry Networking), Centre for Community and Industry Network (CCIN). The event served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and strategic networking between academia and industry.
Prominent agencies such as the Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Bioeconomy Corporation, and Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) were among the invited partners. Bioeconomy Corporation further enriched the program by facilitating participation from three Johor-based companies—Biocon Sdn. Bhd., CytoMed Therapeutics Sdn. Bhd., and Protenga Sdn. Bhd.—who shared insights into current industry trends and explored collaborative opportunities in career development, industrial training, talent matching, consultancy, and joint research.
To highlight departmental strengths, the Department of Biosciences curated three main exhibition booths: the Industry Showcase, Academic Staff Research Showcase, and Undergraduate Module Preview. These booths offered visitors a comprehensive view of the department’s expertise, research initiatives, and academic offerings.
SIIFS 2025 reaffirmed UTM’s commitment to bridging the gap between science and industry, while fostering innovation and career readiness among students.
