15 October 2020: Ms. Haia Abobakr Abdullah Al-Kaf age 23, completed her BSc. in Industrial Biology from the Department of Biosciences, of the Faculty of Science and submitted her final year project report to her supervisor Professor Dr Fahrul Huyop. Her project work is entitled “Growth analysis of Lactobacillus acidophilus on different non- digestible carbohydrates”, and was co-supervised by Dr. Noor Azwani Zainol from the Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) UTM. She has submitted two manuscripts based on her project report, and currently are undergoing review in the International Journal of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, DERGIPARK Akademïk of Turkey. She was awarded a certificate of appreciation for this training course.
Ms. Haia hails from Yemen and started her undergraduate program in this department in 2016. She decided to pursue her undergraduate program in UTM upon recommendations from several family members who themselves are alumni of UTM. Upon completing her BSc, she plans to continue her studies at the MSc level and, eventually PhD, preferably overseas.
