Academic Programmes for Undergraduate Studies
The Department of Chemistry offers two undergraduate degree programmes: Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) with Honours and Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry) with Honours. Both programmes are designed to equip students with a strong foundation in chemical sciences, supported by practical training and industrial exposure. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers in academia, research, and industry, or to continue with advanced studies.
Our B.Sc. degree programmes prepare students for careers in research and industry through a combination of academic learning, hands-on laboratory work, and internship experience. In the final semester of the fourth year, students undertake a 6-month industrial internship, allowing them to gain valuable workplace experience and professional skills before graduation.
In addition, students complete a substantial individual research project as part of their degree requirements. Each project is supervised by an academic staff member from the Department of Chemistry and assessed under the subject codes PSMI and PSMII. At the end of the project, students are required to present their findings at the Simposium Projek Sarjana Muda and submit a dissertation.
