Discover UTM-CIAM
UTM-CIAM (Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) is a research centre anchored to the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Established on 12 December 2012 at St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford, in the presence of the Malaysian Minister for Higher Education, the centre marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s development of industrial mathematics and advances the use of mathematical sciences in solving industrial and societal challenges.
Working closely with the department, UTM-CIAM promotes interdisciplinary research, consultancy, innovation, and postgraduate training in modelling, optimisation, analytics, and computational methods. It also builds strong collaborations with global and regional partners such as the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (OCIAM), the Asia Pacific Consortium of Mathematics for Industry (APCMfI), universities, industries, and research institutes.
