We offer two undergraduate mathematics programme:
Our B.Sc. degree programmes prepare students for careers in research and industry through internship schemes. Students are expected to spend their third year in full-time employment for at least 3 months, giving them the opportunity to work experience before graduating.
Students carry out a substantial individual project in their final year as part of their requirements in attaining their degrees. Each project is supervised by an academic member at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and assessed under subject codes PSMI and PSMII. At the end of their project, students are required to present their work at the Simposium Projek Sarjana Muda and submit a dissertation.
Currently B.Sc. Industrial Mathematics undergraduate program has a special academic pathway with the University of Kent, United Kingdom.
This academic pathway enables a third year Industrial Mathematics undergraduate student at UTM to get another degree qualification in Actuarial Science from the United Kingdom, all within five years of study. The double degree pathway is active until Jul 2021 but there will be no new intake starting from 2019 since the last intake for this track is third year SSCM students Batch 2018/2019.
