The event “Metrology: Science of Measurement & Gold Purity Measurement,” organized by the Popular Science Seminar Series FS team, was successfully held on May 26, 2024, at UTM HELIxS, Faculty of Science. The talk commenced with a presentation by Ts. Dr. Mohd Fazrulhisyam Bin Mohd Nor (Deputy Director, National Metrology Institute of Malaysia (NMIM), SIRIM & Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Science Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) on metrology, the science of measurement, which ensures accuracy and consistency in various fields by establishing standardized methods and units. Dr. Fazrul demonstrated how the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia uses cutting-edge techniques to precisely measure gold purity, ensuring compliance with international standards and fostering trust in the quality of gold products, as presented to the 40 participants comprising academic staff, postgraduate, and undergraduate students from the Faculty of Science.
