Associate Professor ChM. Dr. Norazah Basar obtained her Ph.D.in Chemistry (Organic Synthesis) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is a Life Member of Malaysian Natural Products Society (MNPS) and Malaysian Analytical Sciences Society (ANALIS), a member of Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (Institut Kimia Malaysia) and also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Currently, she is the Director for the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, UTM. She is the group leader under the Future Ready Educators Program (FREE) for active learning groups and also a Mentor for young academic staffs in Learning & Teaching. Her research is focused on the isolation of secondary metabolites from plants, phytochemical compositions of essential oils from aromatic plants, green synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts and semi-synthetic approach towards the synthesis of bioactive natural products.
