UTM Physics Expert Calls for a Smart Border Screening System 
Professor Dr Suhairul Hashim from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), has highlighted the need to develop an integrated smart screening system at the Malaysia–Singapore border in preparation for the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.
According to him, conventional inspection methods are no longer sufficient to manage the hundreds of thousands of travellers and tens of thousands of private vehicles, motorcycles, buses and lorries crossing the Johor Causeway and the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link daily.
The adoption of advanced and intelligent screening technologies could strengthen border security while improving the efficiency and smooth flow of travellers and vehicles.
