Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin received her BSc (Hons), Master and PhD in Mathematics from State University of New York (now known as Binghamton University), Binghamton, New York, USA. Her specialization of research is in Group Theory, Graph Theory, Formal Language Theory, Splicing Systems, and Their Applications. Currently, Prof Niza is a Professor in Mathematics, actively contributing to the Faculty of Science, UTM in both research and teaching activities. She is also one of the mentors in the faculty’s SUNSHINE++ program. Besides that, she is an editorial board member of several national and international journals, including Jurnal Teknologi and Arabian Journal of Mathematics. She has published more than 500 research papers and delivered many keynotes and invited lectures in her area of expertise. Besides that, Prof Niza has secured more than 20 research grants as a leader and more than 25 as a collaborator.
