ChM. Dr. Sheela Chandren is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and an Associate Research Fellow at Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CSNano), UTM. She is also the Vice-Chair of IKM Southern Branch, Secretary for ACS Malaysia Chapter, Chair of Science Outreach Working Group YSN-ASM and Secretary of Persatuan Zeolit Malaysia. After obtaining her doctorate in Materials Science from Hokkaido University, Dr. Sheela went on to do her postdoctoral fellowships in UTM, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Hokkaido University. Her current research focuses on the development, characterisation and application of titania-based photocatalysts in various chemical reactions. Recently, she has also successfully obtained Overseas Research Grants from Kurita Water and Environment Foundation and Nippon Sheet Glass Foundation for Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Sheela is also actively involved in Science Outreach initiatives, where she has organized various programmes with the aim of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to the public.
