Dr. Norhaiza is a senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematical Sciences. She received her Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Kent, England. Her research interest is in finding patterns in high-dimensional datasets. She started this interest whilst working on her master’s dissertation at Sheffield University. Then, she was involved in investigating the profile of employees working for Sheffield Municipal, Works and Pension Department. In consequence, her Ph.D. followed this strand of investigation. She had the opportunity to work on proteomics, studying the profile of a large-scale protein expression dataset using a clustering strategy. Currently, her work mainly revolves around hydroinformatics, particularly in investigating the streamflow variability of the local rivers. Dr. Haiza has four years of working experience in the automotive industry. She is currently the coordinator for the Mathematics Computer Lab at the Faculty of Science, and webmaster for the Department’s website. She has been a user and advocate of R software since 2007 and has conducted various training workshops on R.
